Life integration process (LIP) – Life as it is

The touch of life can be gentle and bright, but also painful or sad. If we try to grasp only what is good and soft, keeping away from what feels heavy, and want to keep everything under control, we freeze inside. Life ceases to flow freely within us.

The basis of the Life Integration Process is the phenomenological attitude – the ability to allow life to reveal itself as it is at this very moment, without interference, interpretation, or resistance.

LIP is based on the following principles:

  • Human life is the becoming visible of the movement of the soul. This movement is not only individual, but also manifests more broadly – in our culture, history, relationships, and collective patterns.
  • Phenomenological work means becoming conscious of this movement – both on the personal and the collective level. We do not separate the person from their context; the individual and the whole are always connected.
  • Inner maturing – spiritual and soulful growth – arises from within life itself. It cannot be made or called forth, but we can hold space for it. Our work does not focus on starting to “do,” but on recognition, becoming conscious, allowing, and, when needed, courageous action.
  • We mainly work in constellation form, which is based on representatives – this allows the movement of the soul to become visible and bodily perceptible.
  • The theoretical and practical foundation of the work is the model of the development of human consciousness created by Wilfried Nelles, which proceeds from the seven levels of life: from symbiosis in the womb to death.
  • From this approach has grown the Life Integration Process (LIP) – a form of constellation that does not seek answers in the past but creates space for presence in the here and now.

True change does not arise from repairing, but from consent – by saying “yes” to what has been, and to what is.

The Life Integration Process (LIP) is an entirely new phenomenological approach in awareness and constellation work. Unlike family or systemic constellations, LIP does not focus on relationships with other people or on one’s place in the system, but solely on a person’s inner attitude toward themselves and their life.

Secondly, in LIP, the representatives move through life stages, which are based on Wilfried Nelles’s theory of human consciousness development and the seven levels of life and awareness described therein.

LIP is based on the understanding that our life, together with all the events that have taken place in it, is completely without alternative, and in this sense everything is “right” as it is and as it was. Everything that truly exists is now. Therefore, the center of all the work is the present.

The past burdens us as long as we (often unconsciously, for example due to trauma) have not fully realized that it is over, or when we unconsciously give it a meaning that does not allow us to let go of it. Therefore, the entire focus of LIP is on the present.

We do look at earlier life stages (time in the womb, childhood, adolescence), but only in order to take in what emerges – without the wish to change it. The cause of problems does not lie in the events themselves, but in how we relate to them today.

When the different life stages within us come to rest and find peace, the adult also relaxes, coming into harmony with themselves – as they are today, with everything that has brought them here. From this place they can come into contact with what has been present in them from the very beginning (spiritually) as a seed – their own, original potential – and the path for its unfolding becomes clear and evident.

What will we explore during the training?

  • How to consciously meet the earlier stages of your life – the time in the womb, the small child, and the adolescent – and allow them to remain as they were. Instead of wishing to change or repair them, we learn to embrace them as part of our story and our being.
  • How to end resistance to the past and be more deeply connected with what is now – opening the door to inner peace and presence.
  • How Wilfried Nelles’s model of the levels of life and consciousness helps to create a map from which it is possible to see at what stage of the life path we are at the moment, and what direction is the natural movement.
  • What distinguishes systemic constellations and the Life Integration Process (LIP) – why LIP does not focus on family patterns, but directs attention entirely to the individual’s presence here and now.
  • How the phenomenological attitude – allowing things to be as they are – creates an inner relaxation from which our original potential can unfold, without anything needing to be repaired or justified.
  • How the LIP form of work, in which representatives are used, allows the movement of the soul to become visible and experiencable – emotionally, physically, and intuitively.
  • How LIP makes it possible to release old survival patterns and habitual reactions, giving space to something new that is more deeply in harmony with your natural way of being.

This training creates a space where it is possible to look at your life without judgment – with respect and presence.
It is not merely learning a method, but a deeper invitation to pause, to listen, and to notice.
In a place where the past does not hinder and the future does not press, life can reveal itself – more lightly, more clearly, and more authentically.

Why participate?

  • Focus on the Present
The Life Integration Process does not try to change or rewrite the past. Instead, it creates the possibility to see and agree with what has been, so that life can continue to flow here and now. When we no longer have to justify or explain our story, the inner tension disappears.
  • Inner Calm and Clarity
When we stop resisting what has been and let go of the wish to change it, peace arrives. It is in this calming that a clearer sense of self and a more natural flow of life become possible.
  • Awakening of Original Potential
When old survival and behavior patterns no longer lead us, the path opens back to what was already within us before stories and patterns – our true, authentic essence.
  • Phenomenological Attitude
In the work of LIP, we do not deal with resolving family stories or intergenerational issues. The focus is on what emerges here and now. We do not create meanings but allow what is seen to reveal itself – honestly and directly.
  • Embodied and Soulful Experience
Through representatives, the movement of the soul that has remained invisible becomes visible and experiencable – not only in thought but also on the level of feeling and bodily perception. This creates a deeply connecting and holistic experience.
  • Growth that Arises Naturally
LIP does not require “doing” for the sake of change. Instead, it opens space for recognition, presence, and life that moves from the inside out – maturity is born when we allow it to happen.
  • Clear and Meaningful Structure
The model of seven levels of consciousness created by Wilfried Nelles helps us to understand where we are in our life at the moment and what the next natural step is. This creates confidence and a deeper understanding of the inner journey of a human being.
  • A New Perspective for Practitioners
LIP is not just one method among others. It unites the spiritual, bodily, and soulful dimension, offering a strong phenomenological foundation both for constellation work and for personal development. It is a valuable and easily applicable addition to the toolkit of a coach, therapist, constellator, body-based practitioner, or awareness guide – for all who support people on their journey of personal growth, inner clarity, and self-discovery.
  • At the same time, it is also a deeply touching and illuminating path for those who wish personally to better understand the course of their life, end the struggle with the past, and open space for something new within themselves.

This is for you if…

  • You wish to discover and be connected with your deepest potential – not by trying to become someone else, but by reaching clarity and maturity within yourself.
  • You feel that the stories and experiences of the past hold you in place, even though you know they are already over.
  • You wish to move toward harmony through acceptance, not control – allowing life simply to flow.
  • You prefer a way of working that does not focus on diagnosing or analyzing, but supports presence and allowing what appears to reveal itself as it is.
  • You work with constellations, awareness, or body-based practices and are looking for a new, clear, and profoundly honest perspective that unites structure and presence.
  • Or you simply feel that the current stage of life is calling you to a new inner level – to meet yourself even more authentically and wholly.

Wilfried Nelles – Founder of the Life Integration Process

Wilfried Nelles (born 1948) is a German psychologist, philosopher, and researcher of consciousness, known as the founder of the Life Integration Process (LIP). His work focuses on a deep phenomenological understanding of life and the inner movement of the human being.

Wilfried Nelles began his career as a scholar of political science, sociology, and psychology. In his late thirties he decided to withdraw from the academic world and turned toward humanistic therapy, bioenergetics, and Eastern meditation. In 1996 he met Bert Hellinger and worked for nearly 15 years as a practitioner of systemic constellation work.

The experience he gained in these forms of work led him to ask more deeply: what comes next? What form of work would not only deal with relationships and systems, but also create space for the inner movement of the individual and the development of consciousness?

From this question the Life Integration Process was born, which he developed in 2008. LIP does not focus on family patterns or trauma stories, but on the person’s relationship with their own life and the unfolding of consciousness. At the heart of this approach is not repair or explanation, but consent to life – as it is.

Wilfried Nelles is the author of more than 16 books, which have been translated into more than ten languages. His works address the development of consciousness, phenomenology, the integration of life stages, and the birth of a new psychological way of thinking, where the focus is no longer on solving problems but on accepting life as a whole.

Together with his son Malte Nelles, he leads the Nelles Institute – Center for Phenomenological Psychology and Life Integration in Nettersheim, Germany, which has partners and branches in several countries. They conduct trainings and workshops throughout Europe, Asia, and America.

Wilfried Nelles says that the movement of the soul becomes visible only when we do not obstruct the natural flow of life. The LIP he created is not merely a new constellation format – it is a new psychological and spiritual attitude, centered on presence, consent to life, and honoring the inner movement of the human being.
